Re-read your old picture books

Kimaia Gassner, Senior Editor June 19, 2017
Where The Wild Things Are teaches kids that there’s no place like home, it’s okay to be mad, and to forgive.   Within those 10 sentences that Sendak masterfully pieced together, children learn that everyone has a wild side. So pick up one your favorite childhood picture books— you might learn something.
Why 'snow' days screwed our 'sun' days

Why ‘snow’ days screwed our ‘sun’ days

Julia Tantare, Staff Writer June 19, 2017
For some reason, you find it necessary to keep us locked in school all day while the rest of the world is enjoying their summer. We get it; the snow came and screwed everything up for you, but that doesn’t mean you need to make finals week full days.
Beaverton High School junior and tenured actress Christina Brissenden took control over her motherly role as M'lynn. Her subtlety added another level of sophistication to the production.

Steel Magnolias: a review

Jono Vincent, Staff Writer April 28, 2017
A musical with a cast of thirty-five is hard to put together, but easy to perform. Alternatively, a drama with a cast of only six is easy to put together, but much harder to perform. The former is a showcase of the blood, sweat, and tears that went into the rehearsal process, whereas it is often onstage on opening night that these bodily fluids are evoked from the latter.

Why Donald Trump is necessary for American Democracy

Jono Vincent, Staff Writer April 14, 2017
Despite the contentiousness of the political fires that have been stoked between work colleagues, neighbors, and even high school students, this new America — one where all its citizens are engaged and responsive to its Government — has been the dream of our Founding Fathers. We [or the populous, at least] are fulfilling our role in American Democracy.

Dear anyone older than me…

I don’t think I know everything. I know I’m not a “real” adult yet. I don’t think I have the rest of my life planned out. I AM, however, capable of having intellectual conversations with you and of having my own thoughts and opinions.

Get out and see this awe-inspiring thriller

Brady Rogers, Senior Editor March 20, 2017
After leaving the theaters, rarely there are movies that leave the audience in awe. The movie Get Out did just that, and exceeded its already high expectations by using strong acting, a powerful topic, and pace to keep the audience engaged. It was the perfect platform to highlight being black in America, and how it shouldn't be ignored.

March twenty-fifth, what’s the plan?

Rocio Avalos, Staff Writer March 15, 2017
I was half way to cape lookout with a couple of friends when I realized I had forgotten to tell my mom I was going out. There was no obvious signal so I just didn’t pay any attention to it. When we got to Tillamook I right away send my mom a message and told her to not worry about me, that I was going on a getaway for a couple of days. Little did I know she would call me as soon as she got the text message. “ Where are you? Does your debit card have enough money? Who are you with?” After a whole interview, my mother was fine with me going, well I mean it’s not like she could do much I was already at the destination.
