Hummer Highlight: Chiefs play 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII

On January 28, the Kansas City Chiefs played the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship. The Chiefs beat the Ravens 17 to 10, winning the AFC Championship. That same day, the 49ers defeated the Detroit Lions to win the NFC Championship. The two teams, Chiefs and 49ers, played each other in the Super Bowl at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 4th.

The Chiefs arrived in Las Vegas on February 1. Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Chiefs, has been to the Super Bowl before. He met with the 49ers quarterback, Brock Purdy in Las Vegas. The Super Bowl started on February 11 at 3:30 pm.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, the Chiefs tight end, have been dating for 6 months. Taylor has been to 12 Chief games. Taylor was in Japan performing a concert the night before the Super Bowl. After the concert, she flew back to the United States for the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl kicked off with performances from several famous musicians. Reba McEntire sang the National Anthem, and other pre-game musicians included Post Malone and Andra Day. Usher performed the halftime show, joined by Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon and Ludacris.

The game itself was close, with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the 49ers 25-22 in overtime. The owner, players and families celebrated in the middle of the field. They are now back-to-back champions. The media managed to catch some audio of Taylor and Travis talking after the Chief’s big win. Travis hugged his mom after the game and then went to Taylor and gave her a hug and kiss. They have audio of their conversation: Travis said, “Thank you for coming, baby. Oh, I cannot believe that.”

Taylor responds with, “Thank you. I can’t believe you.”

Travis then says, “I can’t believe you. Thank you for the support.”

Taylor asks, “How did you do that?”

Travis says, “Thank you for coming.”

Taylor says, “Oh my gosh!”

Then Travis continues to say, “Thank you for making it halfway across the world. You’re the best baby.”

Taylor then asks Travis if “it was electric?” Taylor continues with, “That was the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced. I am in absolute disbelief, you are so magical. I’ve never been so proud in my life, I can’t believe you. How did you do that?”

Travis asks, “How do you not have jet lag right now?”

Taylor answers him by saying, “Jet lag is a choice.”

Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner, awarded the owner of the Chiefs, Clark Hunt, the Vince Lombardi trophy. Clark Hunt gave a speech: “The football team and coaching staff won an incredible performance and it’s been an amazing five-year run. I want to thank the Lord for giving us this opportunity. Watching today’s game, I couldn’t help but think about my parents and how proud they would be of this football team. At their heart, they were the biggest Chiefs fans in the world and they would love celebrating another World Championship with the best fans in the NFL. Kudos to the team. What an incredible performance! One of the most thrilling Super Bowls I’ve ever seen. How about you pass on this trophy to Andy Reid?”

Andy Reid then had this to say, “The defense played out of their mind. How about that D? The O kept pushing, pushing, and pushing. I’m so proud of the group. Special teams dominated at the end there. I’m going to celebrate with these guys. 1, 2, 3, Chiefs!”

After the victory, the Chiefs celebrated in Las Vegas and Taylor Swift celebrated with Travis Kelce at the party. Patrick Mahomes took his family to Disneyland and was in a Chiefs parade there to celebrate.
