Everything you need to know about Homecoming

This year’s Homecoming theme is “Tell the Tale.”

This year’s Homecoming will see the cafeteria transformed into a fairytale landscape on the night of Saturday, Sept. 30 from 7-10 p.m. Lanterns will be hung, vines will climb the walls, flowers will bloom and fairy lights will complete the magical aura. The theme, “Tell the Tale”, was inspired by a variety of fairy tales, with the most influence from Disney’s “Tangled.”

Festivities will kick off on Friday, Sept. 29 with the introduction of the Homecoming Court. When asked about the assembly, ASB President Juliana Van Camp said, “I don’t want to give too much away, so stay tuned for September 29th!” However, we do know that the assembly will be centered around a fairytale storyline.

Members of the court will get dressed up and participate in the story via a variety of activities. All this will draw to a dramatic conclusion when, at the end of the fairytale, one member of the court is crowned as royalty.

Next up, will be the Homecoming football game against Sunset High School on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Halftime will highlight the court members; each member will be escorted onto the field by a parent, guardian, or friend, where they will be celebrated by BHS students and fans attending the game. There will also be performances from some BHS organizations including Band and Cheer!

The last event of Homecoming Week will be the dance. If you are looking to take part in the theme, think yellow, gold, purple, or midnight blue in terms of color. Looking for a grace note to your outfit? Consider styling your hair similar to a Disney character’s, adding a floral element to your costume, or adding some glitter. Another amazing way to get involved is to participate in the spirit days during the week of Homecoming. Announcements and posts on what to wear are coming soon!

No pumpkin carriages, fairy godmothers, or glass slippers are necessary to attend the ball. Tickets will be $10 each and can be purchased from the Bookkeeper this week through Friday the 29th. If you have free or reduced lunch, you will be able to get a ticket for $5 and, if necessary, free. Prior to your purchase, you are required to complete and sign a permission form, which can be found and returned to the Bookkeeper’s office. Tickets for non-BHS students are also available, but forms will need to be signed by that student’s administration, so make sure to get those forms filled out soon! Forms for BHS students are due by Friday the 29th, and forms for non-BHS students are due Wednesday the 27th.
