The water polo team is excited and ready for playoffs. With a great season so far under their belts, they have a feeling they could win. This was considered one of the best seasons thanks to captains Emma Erdahl, Karley Hecht, and Katelyn Gardner. Lead by Coach Pat Soles, the team kept their stamina strong and came away with many wins and ending Metro League play 5-5.

Erdahl said, “this year we came out very strong and everyone communicated as a team. In fact, we made it to playoffs, so I was proud of us. We have a lot of respect for each other which makes us want to try even harder, and being a captain made me want to try all the harder. It was humbling as a junior to be a captain, and I love my team for this experience and me pushing them and them being able to push me.”

Water Polo is a high intensity, fast paced game, so watching the players makes you want to get up and cheer. If you missed their games during Metro League play, make sure to check them out during playoffs and cheer on all of the players, especially those seniors.

Hecht stated, “Being both a senior and a captain is very different. We feel more responsibility to do well, but it is also special. Since freshman year, I have wanted to be a captain so I can encourage the team, and I’m very grateful, but I think the most important thing is that we all can grow as people because of this sport.“

With playoffs just around the corner, seeing the team to continue to score goals and win playoffs would be a great ending to their already successful season. “I hope we end on a good note and get a chance to prove ourselves as a team,” said Erdal.
