Thanksgiving

“Thanksgiving” is a horror movie directed by Eli Roth starring Addison Rae, Nell Verlaque, Patrick Hoffman and Gina Gershon. It was released last year around Thanksgiving. The movie is set to take place around Thanksgiving and Black Friday. In the town of Plymouth, the police and store employees barricaded the stores so they wouldn’t be overrun by shoppers on Black Friday. There were a few teenagers who managed to sneak into the back of the store. The people waiting outside were outraged by seeing the teens sneak in, so they broke down the barricade and ran into the store. A woman was killed in the process. A year after the riot, a Thanksgiving murderer dressed as a pilgrim began killing people with various Thanksgiving utensils. The movie puts an imaginative horror movie spin onto the holiday of Thanksgiving. 

The Marvels

The second movie is “Marvels,” directed by Nia DaCosta. It is an action, adventure, and fantasy movie. The movie begins with the villain, Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), finding a legendary bangle that gives her the power to rip open space-time. The movie then shows Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) using her powers, which causes her to switch places with Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). The two Marvels then figure out they switched places when they tried to use their powers. The movie also includes Captain Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris. The three then have to work together to stop Dar-Benn from vengefully destroying other planets to restore her planet. 

Five Nights at Freddy’s

Now let’s talk about “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” This horror movie came out on October 27 and was directed by Emma Tammi. The movie stars Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Elizabeth Lail, and Piper Rubio. The story is about five kids who went missing in the 1980’s. The police searched Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza but didn’t find them. There was a yellow bunny rabbit who murdered the five children. 

The police shut Freddy’s down because they didn’t want anyone going into the tragedy-stricken pizza place, but in the year 2000, a new security guard was hired to protect Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. He went to sleep in the camera room and had dreams of his brother being kidnapped. When he turned around there were the five kids from the 80’s. A chase ensues between the security guards and the possessed children. The rest of the movie is amazing, but no spoilers, because many people haven’t seen it yet. 

Trolls Band Together

Next, let’s talk about a kids movie called “Trolls Band Together.” This is a comedy/fantasy movie directed by Walt Dohm. The movie stars Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, and Camila Cabello. It’s about five brothers in a boyband that called themselves BroZone. They were doing a concert, but it got messed up, so they split up. After many years, one of the brothers told Branch that their other brother Floyd was captured by Velvet and Veneer. So Branch’s brother wanted to get the band back together. Poppy and Branch go find his brother and have to fight bad guys to save his brother from Velvet and Veneer.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” came out on December 22nd, 2023. The movie stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Amber Heard as Aquaman’s wife, Mera. The rest of the cast includes Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren and Martin Short. The movie’s story begins four years after Aquaman beats the Ocean Master and takes his title as king of Atlantis. Mera left the former Ocean Master and had a son, Arthur Jr., with the new Ocean Master, Aquaman. When Aquaman took over Atlantis, he imprisoned his brother and former Ocean Master in the middle of a desert so that he could not escape. Aquaman and the Ocean Master work together to defeat both the evil king and Black Manta. They destroy the cursed city and reunite with the rest of the Atlanteans. They agree to pardon the Ocean Master for his former crimes and then he gets to finally try a cheeseburger and beer… with a cockroach in the middle. 

Wonka

On December 15, 2023, a movie that called “Wonka” came out. The movie was directed by Paul King. The lead role of Willy Wonka was played by Timothee Chalamet. The famous Oompa-Loompa was played by Hugh Grant, and Rowan Atkinson plays a priest. Sally Hawkins plays Willy Wonka’s mother, Olivia Colman plays an actress, and Mathew Bayntor plays Fickelgruber.

The story follows Willy Wonka and his mother. The mother gives a young Willy his first piece of chocolate which inspires Willy to open a chocolate shop. Willy begins to sell his chocolate until a bigger chocolate company forces him to stop. One of Willy’s friends sneaks into the big chocolate factory and takes proof that the company stole Willy’s chocolate recipe. They wind up getting caught, so Willy gives a signal for the chocolate fountain to explode so they all can safely float away. Willy then opens his own chocolate shop, since the big company cannot stop him anymore.
