Hi Hummer newspaper readers and creative writing enthusiasts, 

We are proud to announce a new collaboration between The Hummer and BHS’ Creative Writing Club! Creative writing club students have been looking for a place to publish their work since DAM Magazine (our lit mag) is inactive. The Hummer is creating a new column on their website for these students and any other creative writers at BHS to have a chance to publish their work. 

To kick off the creative writing section, we are hosting a fall poetry contest! The contest will run from now through December 9, 2024. Poems will be judged by the leadership of The Hummer and Creative Writing Club on the basis of storytelling, technique, and adherence to the theme. Winners will be notified on December 16th, and the top three will be published as the first content on our website’s new creative writing section. 

Guidelines for the contest: 

– Poetry must be related to the season of autumn . 

– Poems must not exceed one page in length.

– Poems needed to be submitted on the Google form as a PDF document.

– One entry per contestant.

– Entries must follow guest article policy.
