Soccer senior night versus Southridge
In a high-stakes game against rival school Southridge, Beaverton denied their own death in a 1-1 tie on October 17th. With the tie, the Beavers are 6-5-3, more importantly, 3-3-2 in the Metro League.
Beaverton started off slow, warming up to the weather conditions and the wet pitch. Southridge scored minutes after the initial whistle blew, a weak side kick in the lower left corner.
In the last eight minutes of the first half, junior Jose Rodriguez took a shot from outside the 18, which was ricocheted off the goalie and knocked in opposite side by junior Antonio Rivera.
The score remained 1-1 for the rest of the game. The Beavers remained on the offensive for majority of both halves, though couldn’t convert in the second half.
For the past couple years, the boys’ soccer team has stood mid-pack in Metro league. New to the League this year, Century, a powerhouse soccer team, proved to be a tough match for the Beavers on Monday with a blinding loss of 6-1.
Beaverton won its last match of the regular season against Grants Pass. Boys soccer will head into playoffs as the fall season comes to a close.
